'Twas the night before Christmas....

It's Christmas Eve!

I have been counting down the days until Christmas for well over 2 months--I can't believe that it's here tomorrow. For some reason though, it doesn't really feel like Christmas is tomorrow... Could be because it's not on a weekend. I'm not really sure.

Today I got to spend part of my day at my Grandma's with my family. A few weeks ago I didn't think I'd get to see my family for Christmas since it's Kyle's year for Xmas. Thankfully, we were able to go see my family before we went out to his neck of the woods.

My Grandma started her holiday baking in October. She made 18 pies! Eighteen! We could each eat half a pie if we wanted and there'd still be leftovers. As always , we ate incredibly well, had some good laughs and were reminded what Christmas is all about.

Kyle and I set up our little tree tonight (I kept forgetting to bring the decorations out whenever I'd come to visit). It's perfect for our first tree (although it's our second Christmas). Tomorrow we will go to the farm and then spend the day with his family. {It will also be my first major holiday that I won't be with my family so I may get a little misty eyed at some point. I apologize in advance.}

Well it's time to sleep -- Santa will be here soon!

Merry Christmas everyone!

Much love,
Alex

Ps- Any tips/advice for alternating holidays, I'd love to hear them! Or if you have any stories about your first holiday away from your family, I'd love to hear it!!

    Well I'm already sad that I won't have my Mom here this Christmas, but Skype or phone calls are still a must. I don't think it ever gets easier to be away from family during the holidays or special occasions, but you can always celebrate later or pick alternate dates when everyone can attend. Remember to do one of your own family traditions at his family Christmas too, that will help tie them together :).
