In our (long overdue) second instalment of Meet: I’d like to introduce you to Allison Jalbert. Allison is one part of the amazing duo at First and First Boardshop located in Warman, SK and one of our Retail Partners. Although it's a board shop, don’t be fooled by the name, they have an incredible selection of women’s clothing!

Open since October, 2016 and have been nursing for two years.
Tell us about yourself & your business...
I have always had an interest in style. Becoming a nurse I wanted to find a way to brighten people's days and lives. I wanted to be able to do that outside of a clinical setting, so I decided to take part in the clothing and accessories side of the business. I love to see people passionte about what we carry and feeling good in their skin, nothing is more satisfying.
Did you always know you wanted to do what you're doing now? What motivated you?
I think my partner, Linden, has inspired me the most through my years with him always encouraging me to express myself in a way that feels good. So I just wanted to inspire others to feel the same way.
What is the best part about your job? What is the most challenging part?
I think the most challenging part about my job is being able to display my goals to clients in the fashion spectrum and really allow them to open up so we can work as a team in finding their best fit. In a way I am working as a nurse in the same way, by improving self-esteem and allowing my clients to live life in confidence.
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
Being able to say that I have taken the plunge into this different and competitive career is what I am most proud of. To let myself seek new challenges.
What do you know now that you wish you knew at the beginning of your journey?
I am just getting started so I have a lot yet to learn, but just cherishing the new friendships that have come along the way.
Suppose we had a time machine. If you blasted ourselves forward a few years, where would we see your yourself/company?
I would love to see the company established, with my own exclusive store just tailored to women and adapt it to fit the best needs of my clients.
Is there a cause or organization that you contribute to that you’re particularly passionate about?
I would have to say mental health is number one. And also, supporting local brands and businesses as much as possible, because that's what it's all about in the end.

Favourite places to shop: my store, seriously. It's like my dream closet!!! But others I'd say I love Anthropologie and Ted Baker
Dream vacation: somewhere lush, and isolated. preferably somewhere with no cell service so I can just take time to be :)
Favourite way to treat yourself: a nice bath 🛀
Favourite spots or things to do in your city or province: love going to a local dog park, furdale. And spending time out on the lake or near the forest
